Paw Sox...

Daddy had the great idea that we go to the Paw Sox game tonight.  Kids (especially Luke) loves going to the baseball games.  Paige was there solely for the food, people watching and to get up close and personal with the mascot.  She was obsessed with Mrs. Paw Sox (didn't get her first name).  I have a feeling she would fit right in at Disney...Paige, not Mrs. Sox...although she would probably fit right in too....

Since Luke is playing Tball right now and learning his positions, daddy took this opportunity to help Luke learn the field.  Paige was listening intently but kept referring to the event as a "soccer" game.  After correcting her 3 times, I was sure she got it.  She woke up the next morning and said "I had fun at the soccer game", so apparently it did not sink in.

Dresses....dresses...and more dresses

Girls weekend!  Paige and I spent the weekend with Anne looking for bridesmaid and flower girl dresses.  Paige, being the ultimate girlie girlie, was lovin' the whole process.  She was all in when I told her our weekend plans.  She actually didn't know before we got to the first bridal shop that she was even in the wedding but Anne explained to her and as soon as she heard "you'll wear a pretty dress" she was in with both feet!

She was quite a trooper.  We started shopping at 11AM and didn't finish until after 5PM.  She was really so good.  She got to try a few dresses on at each place.  We didn't make a decision on flower girl dresses but did pick a bridesmaid dress so the trip was a success!

Saturday night, we had a sleepover at Anne's.  We ordered dinner, hung out, drank wine (or milk) and chatted!  We'll def have to do that more often.

Here she is...beginning of the day, so excited to have the pretty dresses on -

Mid-trip, still doing pretty good.  Posing with the bride-to-be -

Starting to wear down, wearing her FAV dress, a little pink number -

Uh Oh..starting to fall apart.  Examining the color swatches -

Oh boy, probably time to wrap things up -

Loved the sleepover part -

Matching Game -

Luke was too cute today.  He announced that he was going to make a matching game.  He cut the paper himself and made two of each identical pictures.  An ocean, the nighttime, cotton candy and a bear ("the bear was the hardest one, mommy").  Then he colored the opposite side all the same - just like a real matching game.  Then we played!!  I'm so thrilled the kids are not into video games, handheld, computer games, etc...  I'm sure eventually it will come but for now it is fun to watch Luke play and be creative.  He is always making zoos, houses, jungles, or train tracks.  You name it, he'll create it - pullies for the stairs, caves, tents, or carts for his wheelie cars. And that is just the inside.  Now that he is outside...it is a whole new host of things to explore and creations to make!

Mem Day

Happy Mem Day!!  We had a good and low key weekend.  Jay and I were able to sneak away for dinner one night.  We went to the cape one day which was fun for the kids to spend time with the cousins.  Sunday, daddy ran to our favorite restaurant in Westport, Bayside, and we met him there.  We LOVE it there.  That whole area is our favorite in the SC.  It is beautiful.  We always end up across the street on the trails to the beach.

Comme ci, comme ça

Proud mommy moment.

Today, Luke and Paige were talking to me about how it couldn't possibly be time to get jammies on because it was still very sunny out.  I tried to explain that in the summer the sun will still be up BUT YOU WON'T (in theory anyway!)
Luke said, "Oh yeah, like Curious George when he turned the clock back so he could go to bed an hour later.  He is sometimes bad and sometimes good, right mommy".  I said, That's right, buddy".  Then Luke said "Comme ci, comme ça".

This is French for SO-SO.

Luke is finishing his first year of French at school.  He doesn't talk to much about it unless probed (a lot) by me.  I was convinced nothing was really sticking at this age.  Not only did he just throw that out there...and in context, he proceeded to correct my pronunciation of it.

You go Luke!

Butterflies

Luke had this big idea that we were going to catch butterflies today.  So he created a "home" for them in a bucket and pulled out 2 nets.  The kids wandered around the yard for a while looking until Paige got bored and said "Mommy, I caught myself...aaahhhh I caught myself"

What I want to be when I am grown up -

Luke - has wanted to be the same thing for about 9 months now.  When he grows up, Luke is going to be a firefighter who ONLY saves the animals.  Don't compare this job to a fire/park ranger.  He has made it clear that this is not what he is going to be.  He will have a spotted dog (dalmatian).  I have stopped short of asking if he will step over people in an effort to rescue animals because I'm worried at the answer I might get.

Paige - has been fairly consistent too but throws a new profession out there once in a while.  The majority of the time you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, she will tell you that she is going to be a doctor that ONLY helps princesses.  She has recently opened that up to fairies but that is where she draws the line.  Again, we are left to assume that a commoner who may wonder into her clinic would be abruptly turned away.  Paige is also considering professions in modeling - so she can wear make-up and becoming a princess ballerina.

Jay and I are still not sure what we want to be when we grow up.

Happy Mother's Day -

Just getting back from our trip, Sunday was a low key day for us.  The kids slept in since they were so tired from traveling...best gift.  We spent the day getting stuff done around the house and outside.  We had lunch outside on the deck.  The kids reflected on their favorite things about mommy.  I love mommy because she:
makes really good cheese sandwiches
makes carrots for us
gives us cheese sticks
makes yummy lemonade (clearly we should have asked these questions outside of feeding time because the list went on...)

There may have been a few non-food related ones thrown in there but I won't lie, I was having a hard time differentiating myself from a hired cook/cleaner/maid.

Love you guys too!  I couldn't ask for a better family!

Paige made me some special gifts from school.  She was quick to point out that you "CAN NOT put lip gloss in this purse.  It is not that kind of purse. This one is for decoration" Thanks for the heads up Paige.

Isle of Palms, SC

Another great vacation with the Hazard family.  We had a great week....relaxed, forgot about work for a bit, hung out, played, slept in and ate a lot of ice cream!  The kids were lovin' every minute of it too!  They kept asking "how many more days until we have to go back to the little yellow house (aka our house in Dartmouth).  No matter the answer, they would said "that's not enough more days!"  As we were leaving they also devised a plan by which we would take a plane to Cooper and Brandt's house instead of coming home and spend more time with them.  It is safe to say all the kids got along great.  They are all good buddies!

Our week consisted of the following activities in a do loop:
Beach
Lunch (usually outside at the picnic tables by the beach pavilion, pool, or anywhere but inside)
Pool
Ride bikes
Baseball in the yard (also knuckle face ball - created by Luke and Brandt)
Ice Cream
Playground

We also went to the aquarium in Charleston on the one rainy day.  We hit Charleston another day to do the carriage ride, lunch and walked around old Charleston.
