Are our kids geniuses???

Luke –Today , we are driving past St. Mary’s Church on the way to the library, a path we take often. This is the church Paige was baptized in. Hate to say it, but we haven’t been back since she was baptized but as we drove by, Luke said “Mommy, that is where babies get the water on their heads”. That was 1.5 years ago and he was a 2.4yrs when she was baptized…could he remember?? I did ask him who had the water over their head and he said “the baby boy” so maybe he isn’t as sharp as I’m making it out to be.

Another one I just remembered, as we were getting Luke ready for trick-r-treat this year, he asked if he and Jacob were going to be able to eat the candy necklaces again this year. I didn’t know much what he was talking about since daddy was on Luke duty during last years trick-r-treat but Jay confirmed later that they did in fact have candy necklaces last year. He DEFINITELY remembered that one on his own.

Paige –Also today, we got the Pottery Barn holiday catalog in the mail. The kids were flipping through it (aka tearing it to shreds) when they came to the page with the signature Pottery Barn stockings. The same set we have. I asked Paige which stocking was hers. She pointed to the little pink ballerina….she was right! Could she remember this from a year ago??? Full disclosure, there were only 5 to pick from and it was the most girlie one BUT…you never know.

T-Ball -

This past Sunday was the last week of T-Ball for Luke. Same as the Soccer program, it was through the YMCA here in Dartmouth. They got the cute little t-shirts and did the best they could to stay with it for the hour long class. Luke seemed to like T-Ball. Loved to hit and, like most the others, got bored fielding balls when it wasn’t his turn to hit. The best was the way-to-big helmet they had to wear. Luke has a mini-head already. Poor guy couldn’t see a thing.
We’re on to swimming for our next activity….

Luke came home from school today and was SO EXCITED to see Paige. SO CUTE! They are always looking for each other. If I show up at school without Paige (ie. Angie is here) Luke immediately asks “Where is Paigey??” And always wants to wake her up from her nap when he gets bored and needs someone to play with. And Paige buys right into his program. He is always asking her to do things. He’ll say “Paige, come over here so I can tie this to you” OR “Paige, I was playing with that toy too” OR “I’ll have some of your cookie too, Paigey” She always answers with the head bob and her “YEEAAAHHHH”
I’m sure the dynamic will change over time, but for now…it is real cute!

HALLOWEEN!!!

This year we hosted the neighborhood Halloween party. I counted afterwards. We had 48 people at the house. Over half of them were kids, just to set the stage. It was a wild hour or so before the trick-r-treating started. We kept it simple, pizza!

The kids loved trick-r-treating this year. Luke was of course trick-r-treating with Jacob. Paige did a pretty good job too. It got cold when the sun went down. Her little hands were getting so cold so we (Paige and Mommy) packed it in early. We went back to the house and handed out candy for the next hour or so until Luke and Daddy got back.

Paige is OBSESSED with lollipops! She digs through her bucket until she finds one and says, "Mommy open it!" After the 4th or 5th, when I started refusing to support the habit, she just started sucking them with the paper on. She also used the tactic with M&Ms, Skittles, pretty much anything else she could find. She would tear it open with her teeth - kind of like a dog - and get the goodies. Even when we got back home and were handing candy out, she was sneaking candy from our outgoing bowl.

Needless to say, both kids were a bit wild until we got them to wind down a bit. Everyone is tired today!
