The big 0-5!!!

I can't believe it! 5 years old. Such a big boy! We've been telling him everything that happens when you turn 5. Things like no sucking your thumb other than your bed, no training wheels, things like that. Luke said to me the day before his birthday, "I'm not sure I want to turn 5". Guess it wasn't sounding all that appealing to him..HA!
Apprehension aside, he was VERY excited when the day finally came. He played "the birthday card" all day and he played it well. For example, "Paige, I get to pick first because I am the birthday boy!" OR "I get a bigger piece because I am the birthday boy".

The night before his birthday, while putting him to bed, I was telling him about when he was born. He asked what time of day he was born. I said, "you were born after lunchtime". To which he said, "what did I eat for dinner?"

Mommy and daddy both had to work so we came home and Luke wanted to stay home and have pizza. So that is what we did!

Since I wasn't there when he got up in the morning :( I tried to set it up nice for the birthday boy -
Dinner pizza party -
The kids made the cake with Angie. Paige botched the frosting job. But the kids loved it. Luke picked out the candles. 5 for him and a 3 for Paige.

YOGA

Apparently they are doing yoga at Paige's school (that or she has been sneaking down and watching my yoga DVDs). She was all too excited to show me all her moves when she got home from school yesterday. She actually had a couple of them (directionally) correct -like downward dog. Others she totally made up. She was dead serious about her moves. I think she thought she was a professional yogi....

She said "I don't know the name of these ones" but was very certain they are legit -

The Princess Ballet Continues...

at 53 Chestnut Street. If you happen to drop by, there is a fairly good chance Paige will be in full princess dress and music blasting in the ballroom, I mean the kitchen. Getting a little radio with all her fav songs for Christmas only added fuel to the fire. Her absolute fav is Beauty and the Beast but she doesn't discriminate when it is dancing time. She'll bust out a ballet routine to just about anything. Lately, she is partial to the red sequin skirt she got from grandma and grandpa. If the light is filtering into the house and she hits it just right, the reflection from the sequins creates a disco ball effect. She LOVES this, it too fuels the princess diva fire!

Farmer Music

I was driving with the kids the other day. "Me and You" by Kenny Chesney came on the radio. I turned it up and told the kids, "listen up, this was mommy and daddy's wedding song". It is a country song. I guess the kids haven't heard many country songs because after listening for a bit Luke says, "mommy, why is a farmer singing this song?" He then launched into the Spanish Inquisition of questions (that we get lately for just about every subject that comes up).
"Are all wedding songs sung by farmers?"
"Did this farmer singer come to your wedding?"
"Do they have farmers in Hawaii?"
"What kind of animals do they have in Hawaii?"
"What do the swimming turtles eat?"

Somehow the song loses the romance factor when you are answering questions about what turtles prey on!

First Day of School -

Today was Paige's first day of school. She was excited, cool, calm and collected. She woke up this morning knowing exactly what she wanted to do when she got there - PAINT! As soon as she walked in the room and said HI to her teacher, she was off to paint. I found out later she painted a tomato.

Sounds like her first day went very well. She gives me all sorts of information (not like another someone who used to tell me "I'll talk about it later, mommy". Paige told me all about the book they read and the story her teacher told them and it was Brennan's birthday so they had pirate cupcakes and she ate it all and she went on the playground but the swings were full but she waited for a swing to open up....it went on and on...Gotta love the differences between boys and girls.

Kinda sad for Mom, my little girl is off to school :( I'm glad she likes it! She was so tired she crashed in the car and was dead weight coming into the house.

Happy New Year!!

Since we didn't end up going to NH for NYE, we had some friends over for a "kids" pizza party. Luke was lovin' the party planning. He set the table and was So excited for HIS New Year's party. Kids stayed up late 9:30pm and mommy fell asleep 6 minutes before the ball dropped.

Christmas Day Celebration -

We celebrated at the Parent's house this year once again. Great time. More presents for the kids. More lovin' it. The both got scooters. Had to get out there and try them out!

He Came!!!

Kids must have been extra good this year, Santa did not disappoint. The kids were so excited for all their gifts. Luke was especially excited this year. He was on the Christmas high from Christmas Eve straight through the day after playing with all his toys. He was so excited for everything he opened. It was very cute.
Paige was very grateful. Even before she opened a gift, she would say "it is just what I wanted". She said that just about everything she got.

Luke got Daddy a football from his school Santa's workshop. SO excited for him to open it. Luke also got me some gloves and Paige a little piggie (cat toy - but we won't mention that) Luke was very generous this year :)
