Storyland 2013

This weekend marked our 6th trip to Storyland with the five families. Again a great weekend. The kids LOVE seeing all their friends and most of all staying in the "big mansion" for the weekend. The weather was once again great and it wasn't crowded, it is the perfect time to go!

Today in the car Luke said, "I like the window open but I don't like the wind!"  This was his solution -

"I can hold the baby!"

This is what Luke told me today: "Mommy, I am going to be REALLY good at holding the baby. I can hold the baby and walk around but Paige is going to have to sit when she holds the baby. Do you know why I'm going to be so good at it? Because I can walk, sometimes run, with glass and I don't break it. I am very good at holding things that are fragile"

The Temporary House

We made it to Round Hill - or what the kids call this place "the temporary house" although Paige informed me this week that we should probably just call it the house since we are now living here. The kids love it. They think this is all one big adventure. Luke was set on unpacking and organizing his room as soon as we got in. He even put away all his clothes in drawers and set up all his toys. Luke is thrilled with the huge space out back to run around and catch frogs which he has been doing basically every day after he gets home from school. He also leaves carrots for the bunnies and loves checking in the morning to make sure they took his treats. There is a pond nearby, private beach, heated pool we can use for a couple more weeks, tennis, golf and a golf cart which the kids think is the best. We are also enjoying the quiet roads where the kids can ride their bikes free from cars. Here are some pics of our view out the back deck. Beautiful!

And then there were five...

At the beach, Paige was collecting shells. She found one for each person in the family. Then she came back over with a tiny one and said. "this one is the baby!"

Weekend at Papa's -

Seeing that we were homeless AND we needed to unload Marley for the next four months, we decided to head to Papa's after moving and closing on our house for the labor day weekend. It has been a while since we've been up and the kids were super excited to spend some time on the farm. Most of the weekend was spent puttering around the farm, catching frogs and picking wild flowers (I'll let you guess which activity was Luke's and which was Paige's). We also had to say goodbye to Marley for 4 months. We were sad to leave him but are very grateful he has a place to stay and will be having a great time of his own.

First Day of First Grade!!

Can't believe he is a first grader!! Luke started school this past Tuesday. He was very excited to see his school friends and comes home from school every day saying "School was AWESOME!!" Glad he still likes it so much. His teacher is Mrs. Baker. Both Luke and his little friend Charlotte from carpool both have her. They both announced on the way home the first day that "Mrs. Baker is awesome because she isn't a yeller." I was afraid to ask, "as opposed to who?"

GOODBYE Little Yellow House!!!

Today, the movers came in the morning and took our worldly possessions to storage, we had our walk-through and we closed on our house in the afternoon. We are no longer home owners (aka: homeless). I sent the kids to a friends house in the morning for the move. When they came back the house was empty. They haven't been phased by all of this and they were not phased by the empty house (except Luke's insistence on taking his Cars light switch which we inadvertently overlooked). They ran around the empty space for a few and said "OK, lets go to Papas!" Our house has been dubbed the "Little Yellow House" over the years. Whenever referring to the house, the kids would say "when are we going back to the little yellow house" or "I don't want to go back to the little yellow house, I want to stay at Disney" It stuck and we've even caught friends calling it that from time to time..haha! Last pictures as we were leaving -

Sea Sick

Today, Luke informed me that he is suffering from sea sickness due to all the times I've brought him to the beach this summer. Sounds like a form of child abuse! This was in response to my asking if the kids wanted to have a beach day today. I guess it is a good thing the summer is almost over. Sounds like someone has had enough.

Selling the "little yellow house"

As I was getting breakfast ready this morning, Luke must have been reflecting on his years in the house.  He said "Mommy, the funniest thing that ever happened at this house was when the seagull flew over the house with a piece of bread and dropped it on the roof.  That was so funny, right?"  I either don't remember this because I didn't find it memorable or wasn't present at that moment.  Luke was chuckling just telling the story.  So there you have it, the funniest story from the little yellow house.
