Tommy -

Tommy is a boy that lives in Dartmouth. He is a very good boy, never does anything wrong. He always listens to his mommy and daddy. He has lots of toys at his house. He rides his bike without training wheels, always eats all his vegetables and puts his shoes on himself. He always says please and thank you and most impressive, Tommy is always up for pretty much anything. Oh yeah, one last thing, Tommy isn’t real. But the kids don’t know that.
Jay plays the Tommy card sometimes when he is trying to get the kids to do something. It might go like this:
“Oh, you aren’t going to finish your dinner, I’ll just give it to Tommy, he will eat it”
“You know that Tommy already had his training wheels off”
“That’s fine if you don’t want to go to Home Depot with me, I’ll just bring Tommy”
You get the psychology of it. From what I’ve gathered, this is a tatic Jay’s nana used to use with them growing up.
The kids totally buy into this story. They think Tommy is the real deal. So much so that every once in a while, Luke will ask for a playdate with Tommy. Tommy travels a lot so is not often around to hang out.
This morning, Luke said, “Is Tommy going to be at my birthday party tomorrow”
