Louisville - What we did when it wasn't race day

Since we flew in three days before the race, it gave us plenty of time to explore all that LOU had to offer.

Kids loved the indoor pool (albeit small)

Checking out the Ohio River and the area where the swim ends

 Ironman Village -
 Trying on Daddy's gear -

More time at the Ironman village & local park -

 Love the local advertising -
Someone got an Ironman treat at the store -
We went to the Louisville Slugger factory for a tour.  It was pretty cool considering they took us right onto the factory floor -

Special exhibit on the Reds, Lego stadium -

Luke got to have batting practice -
4th Street Live the Ironman finish line -

Having dinner at one of my old hometown favorites The Old Spaghetti Factory -
My friend Kerri came with her boys, Casey and Drew.  They did the Ironkids run together -
Casey did the 1/4 mile and the others all did the mile race.  They loved it.

We gave Daddy some needed downtime the day before the race and kept the kids busy at the Louisville Science Center, the kids loved it there -

VIDEOS -

The kids LOVE the song "Whip It, Nae Nae", especially Ali.  She points up at the TV roughly 17 times throughout the day and yells "NAE, NAE"

ONE

If you ask Ali, "how old are you?" she promptly says, "one!".  This always impresses people until you go on to ask her the next question, "what is your favorite food". "One!"  "What is your name?".  "One".

You get the idea.  We've finally got her saying Ali when asked her name but for all other questions she still sticks with "one!'
the kids love this!

Reason number 63 having a child in the French Immersion program can be confusing?!?  Try filling out the Scholastic book order all in French (and in Euros!)  HAHA!!!

Playtime!

Ali's social calendar is really picking up.  She started a 2 hour playgroup on Thursdays with Angie.  They do free play, crafts, snack, outdoor playtime, circle time and the best part - clean up.

I also signed up for a mommy and me music class with Ali on Wednesdays through the town.
This cuts into her nap time so she is very tired afterward -
 Craft time!

Mini-Me!

Geeze!  These kids apparently need to be unplugged.  I'm going through the latest pics and .....
looks like Ali is learning from the best.

Our little artist!

We got a letter from Luke's art teacher saying that his work was selected to be in the Holliston Harvest Fair.  We were very excited and proud of Luke!  We've always known he is a good artist.  From what I could tell, it looks like they picked 3 or 4 children per grade (3rd through 5th) to participate.

His assignment was to make a picture all in shapes.

Great Wolf Lodge -

The kids were off school in the middle of the week for a Jewish holiday so we headed to Great Wolf Lodge for the night with some friends.

I decided that the best way to describe this place is Vegas for kids.  So big and so much going on.  Not a lot of windows and no sense of time.  The indoor water parks are the main attractions but they have everything from indoor bowling, ropes course, mini-golf, arcade, you name it...

Kids had a blast but I think one night was plenty enough (for us moms anyway!)

The lobby is huge and the kids were so excited as soon as we walked in.  They also go these little wolf ears upon check-in (Luke wasn't going to be seen wearing the ears)

 GWL mascot?

I think the kids were most excited about the bunk beds.  They loved the "wolf den".  I ended up having the girls and Luke slept in the other room with his buddy -

Two huge rooms of water fun!

 Isn't it ironic?
Wolf origami making in the lobby (they really loved this for some reason) -
 Indoor wave pool -
Two tired little wolf cubs -
Seeing that we drove through Bolton, we had to stop to get our pumpkins and for a twist cone on the way home -
