Basketball Man -

Today we had the buffet and awards ceremony for Luke's basketball team (Coached by daddy!)
It was very cute. They got a certificate and trophy (Luke's first). He is very proud of it and put it right in his room on his dresser. He has made a couple of buddies from his team and was only interested in sitting at the "team" table during the lunch.
Daddy did a great job coaching too. As we walked out, one little boy said "Coach Jay are you going to be my coach for Tball too?"
Oddly enough...Jay signed Luke up for Tball and is probably going to coach!
Congrats to Luke and Daddy for a fun season!

Art Show

Now that Paige is at Children's Circle, she was able to take part in the second annual art show. Mommy and Daddy went to opening night but the artwork hung all month so we were able to go back with Paige and grandma and grandpa! She loved showing us all her work.
She can be a tad clingy at drop off and painting has always been her transition activity so when we got there her teacher said "oh, we have lots of paintings from Paige!"
Beautiful work Paige!!!

Wrinkles...

Last night I was laying next to Paige "talking about her day" as she likes to call it. Every night before bed she insists I lay down next to her and she says "lets talk about my day mommy!" Of course I love this. So last night we were going through the day; school, lunch, playing, etc. She points to my forehead:
Paige: "Mommy what is that?"
Mommy: "What?"
Paige: "Those things, those lines there"
Mommy: Realizing what she is talking about and feeling even more deflated after a long day at work, "Oh honey, those are wrinkles"
Paige: "But I don't have those wrinkles mommy?"
Mommy: "No Paige, you don't. You have very pretty skin"
Paige: "But mommy, why do you have those?"
Mommy: "Well Paige, when you get older, you get wrinkles on your skin." This is not the conversation I was hoping we'd be having.
Paige: "But grampy is old and he doesn't have the wrinkles like this."

Oh great, so now I'm more wrinkly than Jay's 90+ year old grandfather.

I think it is time to fire the facialist!

You can always count on the kids to keep you humble...

Preschool Politician

Luke came home from school on Thursday with a picture of both Saint Joseph and Saint Patrick. We talked about them both and he said he learned about them in school.

This morning, I said "Hey kids HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY".
Paige happend to be wearing her green snowman jammies. I said, "Paige, you have the right colors on!, Luke why aren't you wearing your green?"
He looked at his red jammies and said, "I'm celebrating the other saint. Saint Joseph"
Sounds like he is ready to run for office!

Another Great Cousin's Weekend!

Paige got her toes done with Madison for cousin's weekend. She was so proud to show me. Blue sparkles. She'll show anyone that is standing around long enough for her to get her shoes and socks off. Too cute!

The boys went to the Omnimax at the science museum instead, which Luke loved!!

Picture of God?

Luke has always asked a million questions about Jesus and God and heaven, etc..
We can tell he is trying to make sense of it all and to figure it all out in his head. Lately, his questions seem to revolve around what God looks like. These are difficult questions to answer so we usually tell him that our spirit see God in heaven not us. This morning he came downstairs:
He said, "Mommy, my spirit is going to go to heaven but my body will stay on earth"
I said,"Yes buddy"
He said, "So I'm going to tell my spirit to take a picture of God and bring it back to earth so I can see what he looks like. Right Mommy? Then we can all see what he looks like"

OH GEEZE....

Papa's for the long weekend...

We took advantage of the long weekend by heading up to NH for a much needed get away. The kids (all three) love it and it is nice to get away from the everyday "things" we are always doing at home. Not a lot of snow up there which was nice and not unbearably cold...double nice!

Hiking through the woods -

Found some animal tracks -
Yes, everyone is congregating on the lake...a bit weird for me to get into but after a while I kind of forgot we were on frozen water -
The ice fishers showed Luke their catch for the day, the ice bucket -
Back inside and all warmed up, making apple pie with Papa -
Dueling Deere hats -
Not too close -

Happy Valentines Day!

Hard at work making valentines for everyone. Luke planned ahead. He took weeks drawing pictures for each kid in his class. He told me exactly who each was for and he signed them all. I was trying to get Paige to try her name. She doesn't know how to spell it but she can spell L-U-K-E.
