Holyfield vs. Tyson

Date: March 5th 2008
Time: 11:30am
Place: Country Canine Daycare
Round 1: Tyson bites Holyfield's ear, TKO!!!

Unfortunately for us, Marley was playing the role of Holyfield today. Poor unsuspecting Marley was playing at daycare, thought he was playing ball with his "friend" and got bit pretty badly in the left ear.

He was taken to our vet (which happens to be right next door) for some stitches, antibiotics and the e-collar (or as I call it, the lampshade).

Poor Marley, he is moping around the house crying. He just doesn't get it. He has always lacked the ability to read social cues (Jay and I often describe him as the guy at the party telling inappropriate jokes) and we often get calls from daycare telling us Marley was "nipped" but this was the first real bite (aside from the Ashley incident when he was a pup).

2 weeks rest, doctor’s orders. We will all be crawling up the walls by then!!!

FEBRUARY UPDATE –

Teeth: My top 4 teeth are in. It was rough going for a while but I managed through it. I had a week or two rest before my bottom started popping through. What’s the saying, “when it rains, it pours!”. Waiting so long to get my teeth, I’m now playing catch up.

Hair: I finally broke down and got my hair cut!! It was not so bad. I was a very good boy. My hair is blonder and curlier now. I’m super cute!!!

Walking: I’m not yet and have no interest. Crawling works just fine for me and I get around very quickly.

Talking: I’m doing OK. I like all the B words – Ball, Baby, Book, Boat, Balloon, Block, Bottle. I can say the other biggies “Mama, Dada, Uh Oh”. I also try to say “Thank You” but unless your Mom or Dad wouldn’t have a clue what I’m saying. Dad is teaching me the sounds animals make. So far I have Cow, Dog and Sheep but they all kind of come out sounding the same.

Games: I’ve graduated from “Pat-a-cake” to “How big is Luke?” and I throw my hands up in the air. It’s a crowd pleaser so I continue to do it. I also LOVE pointing at anything and everything. I love to point at the balloon and my baby picture on cue with Mommy. I can point at Marley when Mom and Dad say his name. I’m learning lots of words, I now need to figure out how to sound them out!!

Not so Fun Games: Lately, I’ve been throwing my blanket out of my crib. I usually do this at night before I fall asleep or in the early morning when I’m first waking up. Once I do this and realize there is no getting it back (without some adult help) I cry. Not a little cry, this is a top of my lungs “someone better get up here NOW!” cry” It usually works and I get my blankie back until I decide to do it again. Mom and Dad don’t seem too happy to take part in this game but I like it so I think I’ll keep doing it for a while.

Things I do NOT like: Cabinet safety latches. Daddy put them on the kitchen cabinets last weekend. They are a cruel joke!! I cry every time I try to get into the cabinets now because I can’t seem to figure them out. It’s very frustrating. I’ve enlisted Marley to help me figure this out but he just stands behind me and occasionally licks my head.

HAPPY LEAP DAY!!!

Eye Infection :(

I have conjunctivitis – stay away (for 24 hours at least). Mom is home with me. Getting my eye drops is the real pits…Mom and Dad pin me down. It is borderline child abuse in my "eyes"…other than that I’m happy to be home with Mommy today!!!

Drum Roll Please........

Thanks to everyone who weighed in…oh yeah, only my friend Jen Doll commented. Apparently my blogging friends aren’t interested in “interactive blogging” – ps. emailing your answers on the side does not count!!! SOOOO…what is the difference in the two pictures……..Monday I got my first hair cut!!!! Can you see now the difference???!??
It was big fun. Mom and Dad were both off work so they took me to Kid Klips here in Acton. They were all worried I was going to have a meltdown mid-cut but I was such a good boy. I just looked around and made the pretty haircutter-lady think I was the perfect little boy!!! It must have looked like so much fun that Daddy decided to get HIS haircut too – yes, also at Kids Klips. he he!! I got to sit in the airplane seat and watch cartoons. It was big fun. I hope they take me to get my haircut again!!!!

Blockhead or Blockhead's Dad???

Which one is our Marley Man and which one is his daddy Wilber. NO JOKE!!! One of the pics really is his daddy. Can you tell who is who???? Marley, I guess we know where you got your blockhead... he he!!!

My Nashville Network

My good friend Simmerly (aka. Kerri Dunaway) came to visit on Sunday. It was a much needed pick-me-up for this family. She is Mommy’s friend from college. I’ve heard some pretty wild stories but she seemed pretty normal to me. She drank water all day not beer and shots like Mommy said they lived on in college. We hung out and played together. She has a little boy, Drew, who is almost 3. I think he stayed home with his Daddy but next time we are all going to play together. I hear he has a big train set that I would like to play with. I hope Mom and Dad take me to Nashville soon. Maybe it is close by. But I don’t think so because Simmerly showed up without a coat and told me they only get 1 inch of snow a year. That place must be REALLY far away from here!!!

Ashley Joan

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this post. Our sweet little Ashley Joan passed away yesterday. After being admitted to Mass Vet Referral Hosp in Woburn for 3 nights and diagnosed with kidney failure, she was able to spend one last night at home in her bed and with us. She was such a big part our family’s life, we will miss her greatly!!
