Hide-N-Seek -

Luke’s new favorite game to play. In our house, it goes a little something like this:

• Luke always hides first
• Luke always hides in one of two spots, under the covers in his bed OR his closet (unless he steals mommy’s spot – see below)
• 85% of the time Luke will announce where he will be hiding before he runs off to do so.
• 100% of the time, after mommy’s turn to hide, Luke will, during his next turn, hide in the same spot mommy just hid.
• Luke never counts to 10, he gets to 4 and gets too excited he starts running around looking for me and Paige.
• Marley ruins the game (surprise, surprise!) because he follows the hider around and with his 90lbs big self, gives it away.
• Paige does hide BUT she jumps out from where she is as soon as we finish counting to 10. This upsets Luke every time and he tries to tell her how the game is played…you know, because he has mastered it.
• 75% of the time, Luke tells Paige where to hide, and she happily toddles along to her appointed spot.

NEW BOOTS -

The kids were at their cousin's house this weekend. I bought Paige some new rain boots. Guess who found them bright and early Monday morning.

I spent the weekend cleaning and rearranging. These kids notice every little thing. The books that I switched out, different magnets on the fridge...they don't miss a beat!!

Today, Angie, the sitter, said "Luke, please move that so Paige doesn't trip"
To which, Paige said "I don't trip Angie, I WALK!"

Too smart for her own good...a little freshie too!

"Under the Covies"

As soon as Paige wakes up in the morning, she sees me coming into her room as starts to yell "UNDER THE COVIES!!" She LOVES the winter ritual of coming into mommy and daddy's bed in the morning and snuggling under the covers. Luke loves it too..for a bit. Then he is usually off acting like a cheetah OR some other jungle animal.

Fort Peabody

Why do all kids love to make forts? Must be in the handbook, right next to the section on 'must scream and ask for everything and anything when mom is on the phone'. I digress! Mom was away last week for work. The kids (and Dad) did great. Lots of quality time. I got these pictures of some good quality fort making when I was away.

Stir Crazy

I think the weather is making everyone a little stir crazy. So much snow and too cold to spend too long outside is definitely getting to us all...some of us more than others.

Jay is obsessed with his bird feeder. Always has been but the inclement weather has increased his agitation. He is fearful that the squirrels are eating all his bird food. One Sunday afternoon (when we clearly had too much time on our hands) he put together his version of the winter bb gun to, in his words "get those #*$@*# squirrels one way or another"...

Happenings –

Tomorrow: Instead of saying “tomorrow”, Luke says “after this goodnight”. We were at a play date this week, we were leaving and he said “After this goodnight, can we go back there”. Everything is counted on how many goodnights it will take.

Good Job: Paige is very encouraging, I was cleaning the table after dinner the other night and she said “Good Job Mommy!” She has also said this about other mundane household tasks…nice to be appreciated!

Hiccup: Paige doesn’t really understand what a hiccup is. When she sneezes, she says “I hiccup mommy!” The other day she…well…she had a little gas. She looked at me and said, “My bummy hiccup mommy!” What a pleasant way to put it, I guess!

Mac-n: Paige told me this week that for dinner she wanted to have “Mac-n-roni”
